I must bring the following to your attention. In the past week, there have been three incidents of strangers approaching children from our schools, which have been reported to the ... police.

Is this community under threat? Last year a similar series of incidents occurred, leading to the community placing signs in people's windows identifying safe houses the children could run to if approached.

Yes, this is in the U.S., no it's not Brooklyn or a major urban neighborhood.

I started writing my speculation on what this might be, but it only ranges from horrible to worse.
